Colossal Fight Between OpenAI and Elon Musk

1. OpenAI vs. Elon Musk

The relationship between OpenAI and Musk is taking on the air of a soap opera: Elon has raised the stakes by suing OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, alleging that they violated their agreement by focusing on profits for Microsoft rather than developing AI for humanity. He claims that OpenAI, which was once a non-profit organization in which he participated, is now a Microsoft subsidiary that prioritizes profits. Musk wants OpenAI to release its technology to the public and questions the classification of GPT-4 as AGI (Artificial General Intelligence).

Of course, OpenAI responded. They shared their side of the story, including screenshots of email exchanges between Sam Altman, Ilya Sutskever, Greg Brockman, and Elon Musk. The evidence shows that Musk believed OpenAI had a 0% chance of success, that he wanted OpenAI to be a subsidiary of Tesla, and that he agreed with the need to make certain models closed source (not open source).

Boooom. There is a clash of the titans.

A New Chatbot Enters the Ring: Mistral

2. Mistral Enters the Ring with Microsoft's Support

Mistral, a French artificial intelligence (AI) startup, has just announced the launch of its new chatbot model Mistral Large, claiming that it is only second to GPT-4 Turbo. To access it, I give you the following link: chat.mistral.ai/chat

Without hesitation, Microsoft announced a strategic partnership with Mistral. The partnership seeks to integrate Mistral's AI models into Azure, Microsoft's cloud computing platform. With this, Microsoft expands its options in terms of AI models beyond its partnership with OpenAI.

Claude 3 Opus, the Third Rival

3. Claude 3 Makes Its Appearance

A few days after Mistral positioned itself as GPT-4's biggest rival, Anthropic announced Claude 3, a family of multimodal AI models that can process different types of information, such as images, graphs, documents, and text. Claude 3 models can be used for live customer chats, auto-complete, and data extraction tasks that require immediate and real-time responses.

According to Anthropic, the Claude 3 Opus version, its most intelligent model available, is superior to GPT-4, as it demonstrates advanced performance in various cognitive tasks, such as reasoning, expert knowledge, mathematics, and language fluency. Here is the leaderboard.

The battle for the chatbot crown is fierce.

4. Pika is already making noise

The text-to-video platform Pika.art has announced the functionality to generate and integrate sounds into videos easily. You can describe the sound you want or let Pika generate it automatically based on the content of the video.

5. Midjourney launches /describe for v6

Midjourney has just released the new version of /describe for version 6, and it is waaaay better than the previous version. It produces longer and more detailed descriptions specifically tailored for version v6. It currently only works in Discord using the /describe command.

Do you find these notes helpful? Are they interesting? I would appreciate any feedback you can give me to improve.
