ChatGPT Mini: AI models are getting small and strong
The latest version of ChatGPT was launched last week. It’s called ChatGPT-4o mini and is promoted as the most capable and cost-effective model available today.
This confirms the trend: Microsoft, Google, Mistral, Anthropic, Cohere, and now OpenAI are all presenting their own mini versions. GPT-4o mini will replace GPT-3.5 in ChatGPT. It’s more accurate and cheaper.
Why small models? Large models like GPT-4 are extremely expensive to build (over $100 million), so the developers charge more for their best models (which is why they limit GPT-4o usage on the free plan). Meanwhile, smaller models are trained with less data, are cheaper to operate, and work well for specific tasks.
Why it’s important
Intelligence is becoming increasingly affordable. This is important for the individual user, but also for large companies that need multiple plans with lower costs.
The best uses of Artifacts from Claude 3.5 Sonnet
Claude 3.5 Sonnet has an application called Artifacts that allows users to build applications and designs with a single text prompt. Here are some of the best examples:
Read 100 pages of Amazon shareholder report and create 3 interactive dashboards in 46 seconds: https://x.com/alliekmiller/status/1808252365130104878
Analyze data, make visualizations, and prepare a presentation: https://x.com/RaziaAliani/status/1804058842302681120
Connect an application with the ElevenLabs API to create a sound effects generator app by simply copying and pasting the API documentation: https://x.com/ammaar/status/1803914672091074726
Create an interactive tool to explain complicated concepts to children: https://x.com/alliekmiller/status/1804212347021525288

Microsoft Designer is now open on iOS and Android
Microsoft Designer, a competitor to Canva, is now available to all users on iOS and Android. The app allows users to generate images and designs using AI, making it easy to create items such as stickers, greeting cards, invitations, collages, and more.
