Kling AI is now available

Weekly Round-Up of news from the AI World

Good day, humans.

In today’s Newsletter:

Let’s go!

Kling AI is now available

The Kling AI video generator, previously limited to China, now allows users worldwide to generate videos using both Text-to-Video and Image/Text-to-Video capabilities, providing competition for Runway and Luma Labs.

Kling AI Features:

  • Free Credits: Users receive 66 free daily credits and can create videos in three resolutions: 960x960 square, 720p landscape, and 720p portrait. It’s a good moment to learn how to use the tool.

  • Language Support: Kling AI supports prompts in English and Mandarin, maintaining high quality in both languages.

  • Creativity Adjustments: Users can adjust creativity levels to influence video alignment with prompts and use negative prompts for greater accuracy.

Why it’s important: Kling AI’s ability to create high-quality videos makes it one of the top options today, matched only by Luma Labs in generating videos from images (Runway currently allows only Text-to-Video).

Meta unleashes Llama and shakes things up

Meta has officially launched Llama 3.1, a family of three new open-source AI models that anyone can download and use to create new AI applications. The most advanced version, 405B, is already available on WhatsApp and the Meta AI chatbot, and will soon be on Instagram and Facebook.

Why it’s important: Llama 3.1 promises to increase AI adoption due to its accessibility on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, while also providing tools for any developer to build applications with the model. Meta is betting on open-source to compete with OpenAI, Microsoft, and Google. We’ll have to see how well this bet pays off.

OpenAI launches SearchGPT: The new Google competitor

OpenAI has finally announced its search engine and Google competitor: SearchGPT. Initially, it is available to a limited group of users.

Key Features of SearchGPT:

  • User Interface (UI): The interface looks fast, clean, and similar to Perplexity.

  • Multimodal Results: SearchGPT can provide stock graphs, weather images, videos, and more.

  • Emphasis on Citations: The most important feature is that SearchGPT always cites its answers. This likely explains why OpenAI signed deals with so many publishers: it doesn’t want to anger them any more than they already are.

Bing also adds AI

Microsoft's Bing search engine also announced the launch of functionality to combine the power of generative AI with the search results page to create a personalized and dynamic response to the user's query.

Why it’s important: Generative AI suggests the possibility of a search engine better than Google. That remains to be seen. Google already tried to incorporate AI into its processes and had to adjust its approach, as it is not 100% reliable.

Udio introduces new tools

Udio v1.5 enhances the quality of AI-produced music to closely resemble human-created tracks. The update introduces improvements in audio fidelity, including clearer vocals and better instrument separation in 48 kHz stereo tracks.

Luma has Loops

Luma AI announced a new feature called "Loops" for its Dream Machine platform. The new update allows users to create seamless, continuous video loops from text descriptions, images, or keyframes.

Firefly is now in Photoshop

Adobe released new Firefly tools for Photoshop, allowing users to generate detailed images with text prompts directly in the app.
